BlastBlock Products
Acoustic barriers that add transmission loss where build-up depth is limited, lagging for pipes and ductwork, and the accessories that keep a barrier performing at its joints and penetrations. Stocked in Bangkok and supplied across Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
The range
- BB830 Acoustic MLV Soundproofing Material — The original acoustic optimized MLV. BB830 is the flagship BlastBlock barrier: a 3 mm acoustic optimized mass loaded vinyl sheet rated STC 32, aluminium faced, for walls, ceilings and floors where build-up depth is limited. The aluminium face goes toward the noise source and also acts as a vapour barrier.
- BB830FR Fire-Rated Acoustic MLV — The BB830 barrier in a fire-retardant formulation. BB830FR matches BB830 acoustically at STC 32 and adds a fire-retardant formulation fire tested to AS/NZS 1530.3 with indices 0/0/0/7. It is the grade for commercial buildings, hotels, hospitals and schools where the acoustic layer must also satisfy a fire requirement.
- BB830LF Low-Frequency Acoustic MLV — The heavy sheet for low-frequency energy. BB830LF is the heavy low-frequency grade, Rw 32, for partitions where bass energy rather than speech is the complaint: recording studios, cinemas, plant rooms and industrial enclosures.
- BB460 BlastVib Sound and Vibration Barrier — Sound blocking with vibration damping. BB460 BlastVib combines a mass barrier with a damping layer, for assemblies where structure-borne energy matters as much as airborne sound: vehicle floors and door skins, marine bulkheads and machinery panels.
- BB850 BlastLag Acoustic Pipe Lagging — Acoustic lagging for pipes and ductwork. BB850 BlastLag wraps pipes and ductwork to control noise break-out. A 5 kg/m2 limp mass barrier sits over a hydrolysis-resistant open-cell polyether polyurethane foam, protected by a reinforced foil facing. The foam breaks the vibration path between the pipe wall and the barrier, so the barrier works as a limp layer rather than being driven directly by the pipe. It contains no mineral fibre. The figures below are the manufacturer's declared data; the supporting test report is available on request.
- BB860 BlastCore 25-6-25 Foam/MLV/Foam Composite — Barrier and absorber in one lining. BB860 BlastCore 25-6-25 is a symmetrical three-layer composite: a 6 kg/m2 mass loaded vinyl barrier bonded between two 25 mm layers of polyether polyurethane foam at 28 kg/m3. The foam decouples the barrier from the structure and absorbs inside the enclosure, while the barrier blocks transmission. No acoustic test report is published for this composite yet, so no performance figures are quoted here.
- BA650 BlastPutty Acoustic Putty Pads — Putty pads for outlet and switch boxes. BA650 putty pads seal electrical outlet and switch boxes, closing the flanking path that undoes an otherwise good partition. They are an acoustic product tested to ASTM C919 and E90; firestopping in a fire-rated assembly must be specified separately with a listed product.
- BA890 BlastSealant Acoustic Sealant — Permanent flexible acoustic sealant. BA890 is a permanent, flexible, non-flammable acoustic sealant for the gaps, joints and perimeter details that decide whether a partition reaches its designed rating.
- BA990 BlastAdhesive Soundproofing Adhesive — Adhesive for bonding MLV to substrates. BA990 bonds mass loaded vinyl to walls, ceilings and other substrates in permanent installations, applied in a zigzag pattern covering roughly 70 per cent of the surface.
Choosing a grade
BB830 is the general-purpose barrier at STC 32. BB830FR matches it acoustically and adds a fire classification to AS/NZS 1530.3. BB830LF is the heavy sheet for low-frequency energy. BB460 BlastVib adds vibration damping. BB850 BlastLag wraps pipes and ductwork. BB860 BlastCore lines acoustic enclosures. BA650, BA890 and BA990 seal and bond the installation.
